NATIONAL PROJECT ON RINDERPEST ERADICATION PROGRAMME :

Rinderpest Eradication programme in Sikkim state is carried out as per the guidelines given by the Government of India . The work as prescribed for the programmes are as follows:-

  • Village search and stock Route search programme: The Annual Action plan for the year 2009- 2010 of the National project on Rinderpest Eradication programme is prepared and submitted to project coordinator, New Delhi during the month of April 2009. In the Action plan, the veterinary institutions of the state identifies the villages for surveillance of the symptom of Rinderpest disease and also the stock route search on the two sides of highway ,every month in the state.
    Accordingly, on the basis of Annual Action plan, the report of village search submitted by the veterinary institutions is complied and sent to CPMU, New Delhi, and every month.

  • Information & Communication Campaign: To create the awareness amongst the masses about the eradication programme of Rinderpest disease in the state, the following steps were taken that are given in the guidelines:

    DIPLAY OF SIGNBOARD : To bring the awareness among the public and the farmers, prominent sign and symptoms of Rinderpest Disease in two language. on English and Nepali were displayed in the Departmental Institutions National Highways and Interstate Check posts.

    PUBLICITY MATERIALS : The leaf-lets and pamphlets pertaining to Rinderpest disease were distributed to motivate the farmers to take participation in the surveillance programme. The banners are also displayed on the roads and villages.
