Regional Review Meeting29/12/2017Animal Husbandry Commissioner in his opening remarks welcomed all the participants and informed the participants about the new initiatives taken by DADF for overall development and conservation of Indigenous breeds of cattle and buffaloes with special focus on 7 cattle (Gir, Sahiwal, Red Sindhi, Tharparkar,Rathi, Hariana and Kankrej) and 4 buffalo breeds (Murrah, Niliravi, Mehsana and Pandharpuri). He briefly explained about ETT/IVF, Sex Sorting of Semen Technology , Genomic Selection, e- Pashuhaat, National Kamdhenu Breeding Centre (NKBC) and Gokul Grams. There are only 2 registered bovine breeds in North Eastern States i.e. Siri Cattle of Sikkim and Lakhimi Cattle of Assam. Focused selective breeding program shall be implemented for these breeds.
Release of First Batch of Chicks18/10/2017They will rear these chicks at their respective rearing stations for another one month and distribute to the beneficiaries under Rural Backyard Poultry Scheme
Developing a GHG Inventory and MRV System: Towards Carbon Neutrality in Sikkim.07/10/2017The programme commenced with welcome address by Dr. K.C Bhutia, wherein he particularly emphasized and welcomed the team of officials from IORA Ecological solutions private limited headed by Mr. Swapan Mehra, CEO of the organization .A power point presentation on developing a GHG Inventory and MRV System in the state with particular reference to Animal Husbandry activities of the state was highlighted and discussed during the programme . “Swacchta Hi Sewa-Shramma Daan”22/09/2017Cleanliness drive as a part of “Swacchta Hi Sewa-Shramma Daan” under Swatchh Bharat Mission was taken up at State Veterinary Hospital Complex, Deorali by the Officers and Officials of Animal Husbandry Livestock Fisheries & Vety. Services Department on 22.09.2017 (Friday). Cleanliness drive included cleaning of Office premises and surrounding areas. The drive was led by Dr. N.K.Rai, Director (VS) and the participation was voluntary. The following are the Photographic depiction of the activities undertaken.
review the activities of ADMaC18/09/2017Dr. A. Chakraborty, Director of Research ( vety) highlighted the major objectives of the scheme and inform the house that the team was here in Sikkim to sort out some bottleneck problems for implementation of the scheme . He therefore insisted that the state should take full advantage of the scheme so that major hurdle of the livestock farmers with rigorous surveillance for the highly contagious is addressed. He also handed over mastitis diagnostic kits to all the representative of the districts. The meeting ended with vote of thanks to the chair and thereafter hands on training to the field officers was carried out in the laboratory to facilitate early with latest techniques of diagnosis and prompt initiation of action in the field.
Awareness programme16/09/2017The Programme was attended by over forty numbers of livestock farmers of the area. The programme commence with a welcome address by the field paravet of the area and Veterinary Officer Central Pandam explained regarding the details of formation of intensive cattle breeding area and the series of activities to be undertaken for the purpose.

Review meeting on National Livestock Mission02/06/2017The meeting was chaired by Shri O.P.Chaudhary, Joint Secretary NLM, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, (DADF) Government of India New Delhi. At the outset Director Animal Husbandry Dairying & Fisheries Government of Meghalaya welcome all the participants from all the North Eastern states. Thereafter Joint Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, (DADF) Government of India New Delhi made a power point presentation with regard to status of the progress of the respective state and the concern state was asked to react for the same. The agenda items included unspent balance of the various states, state share and proposed schemes for 2017-18 . The meeting concluded with vote of thanks to the chair.
